An Se-young wins women’s singles final to clinch consecutive India Open titles
An Se-young continued to be in unstoppable form as she beat two-time Asian champion and familiar rival Wang Zhiyi to clinch the women’s singles title at the 2026 India Open in New Delhi on Sunday.
Se-young, who had beaten Wang Zhiyi just a week ago to win the Malaysia Open, maintained her domination with lightning-quick reflexes to win the India Open final 2-0 within 43 minutes at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex.
She triumphed in the first game with a score of 21 -13 and then sealed the title with a 21-11 victory in the next game.
It was a second India Open title in a row for the South Korean star, who won 11 titles in 2025 — the most by a woman shuttler in a season — and already has two titles — Malaysia Open, India Open — this year.
Se-young now holds a head-to-head record of 18 wins and four losses against Zhiyi from China. Notably, she has not lost to Zhiyi in their last 10 encounters.
