Indian sports wrap, December 4: Gaganjeet Bhullar wins third IGPL title
GOLF
Bhullar wins third IGPL title with a birdie finish in Ahmedabad
Gaganjeet Bhullar, who began the week in a modest manner, closed it in a masterly fashion to become the first player to win three times on IGPL Tour. Bhullar, who opened the week with a round of 1-under 71, that included a hole-in-one, added solid rounds of 67-67 on the last two days to total a winning 11-under at the splendid Glade One Resort and golf club.
The 21-year-old Raghav Chugh gave it all but with three pars in last three holes, he fell one short and ended a creditable sole second. Chugh shot 4-under 68 and totalled 10-under for the week.
Three internationals, Filipino Justin Quiban, Mexican Santiago de la Fuentes and Indian-American Manav Shah, all hoping to become the first international to win on the IGPL were thwarted at the finish, and ended Tied-third at 8-under.
The contest could not have been tighter as three players, Bhullar, Chugh and Fuentes were tied at 10-under with two holes left. But in the end Bhullar with 5-under won the day, capped by an 18th hole birdie, that followed the crucial eagle-birdie combination on the 14th and the 15th.

PICKLEBALL
Indian Pickleball League: Chennai Super Warriors qualifies for playoffs with fourth straight win; Lucknow-Gurgaon in 3-3 Draw
With a perfect win record after four games, Chennai Super Warriors became the first team to confirm a playoff spot in the Indian Pickleball League. The Warriors beat Bengaluru Blasters 4-2, after Lucknow Leopards and Capital Warriors Gurgaon had earlier played out a 3-3 draw.
Bengaluru Blasters, fresh off its maiden win, ran into unbeaten Chennai Super Warriors in the second tie of the day. Phuc Huynh gave Bengaluru the ideal launch, outlasting Aman Patel 15–13 in men’s singles. Chennai steadied through Mitchell Hargreaves and Harsh Mehta, who edged Huynh and Arjun Singh 15–12 after a gritty, point-for-point kitchen-line battle.
From there, Roos van Reek took charge once again, racing to a 10–5 lead before closing out a commanding 15–5 win—her fourth straight in the league—over Pei Chuan Kao. Bengaluru snapped Chennai’s unbeaten women’s doubles run with a crisp 15–8 victory, levelling the tie again at 2-2. Chennai, however, were in no mood to let their perfect record slip. They burst ahead in the Grand Rally and closed out a dominant 21–10 finish to seal their fourth straight tie, 4–2. Mehta and van Reek claimed the Players of the Tie honours.
