Aditi is tied-11th, Avani moves into top-20 at Open de Espana

Aditi Ashok was just outside top 10 and Avani Prashanth made a good move up to get into the top 20 at the halfway stage of the Andalucia Costa del Sol Open de Espana.

Aditi, a former winner of this event, shot 2-under 70 and moved to 5-under 139 and was tied 11th.

Avani brought home the best second round card of 3-under 69, to get to 4-under and was tied 17th.

Among the other three Indians, Pranavi Urs (71) was T-47 at 1-over total, Hitaashee Bakshi (76) and Diksha Dagar (75) were both T-64 at 5-over.

There are two more rounds to go in the season-ending event.

Hitaashee, Pranavi and Avani are coming off Top-5 finishes in the Hero Women’s Indian Open and are looking at a good finish at the season-ending event.

Aditi who had a rather modest round had three birdies against one bogey, while Avani had six birdies in an aggressive round but she also gave away a bogey on the third and a double bogey on the 16th in her 69.

Diksha had one birdie against two bogeys and a double bogey and Hitaashee had three birdies against five bogeys and a double bogey in her round of 76.

Ojaswini Saraswat wins DGC Ladies Amateur Open Golf Championship title

Ojaswini Saraswat clinched title at the 15th DGC Ladies Amateur Open Golf Championship 2025, presented by Usha, with a total score of 222 at the Delhi Golf Club.

The three-day, 54-hole WAGR tournament, played across the Lodhi and Peacock course, brought together 115 talented women golfers.

The finale on Friday saw Saraswat walk away with the trophy with a score of 222, followed by Keya Badugu (225) and Yogya Bhalla (232).

In a standout moment, Ashem Agnish recorded a spectacular hole-in-one on the fifth hole, adding to the excitement of the final day.

This year’s field featured an impressive group of rising talents, including 20 juniors, who have a handicap of 9 and below and have been making their presence felt on national and international circuits.

Praneel Sharma wins twin titles at ITF World Junior Tennis Tour

Praneel Sharma completed a memorable double at the ITF World Junior Tennis Tour J100 tournament, clinching both the singles and doubles titles as Roundglass Tennis Academy swept the honours at the DLTA Tennis Stadium on Saturday.

Fifth seed Praneel defeated fellow academy player and third seed Aashravya Mehra 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (8-6) in a hard-fought boys’ singles final. He then paired with Aditya Mor to secure the doubles crown, beating top seeds Tavish Pahwa and Samarth Sahita 6-4, 6-2 in straight sets.

Praneel beat fourth seed Vraj Gohli 6-4, 6-1 in the semifinals before overcoming second seed Aradhya Kshitij 7-6, 3-1 (retd) in the quarterfinals.

In the second round, he defeated Shivtej Sirfule 6-1, 6-3 in straight sets and comfortably ousted Rohith Gobinath in the first round 6-4, 6-1.

The other finalist, Aashravya beat Shaurya Swarup 6-4, 6-3 in the first round to set up a meeting with Mansur Sainov of Kazakhstan in the second round. Sainov retired after the first set, which he lost 0-6.

The youngster then got the better of Tavish Pahwa 6-3, 6-3 in the quarterfinals and later shocked top seed Samarth Sahita 7-6, 6-0 in the semifinals.

In the doubles category, Praneel and Aditya posted a comfortable 6-2, 6-2 victory over Aahan Mishra and Aum Hiren Thakkar in the first round and then got a walkover in both the quarterfinals and semifinals as both the opponents retired before the match.
