Olympic medallist Gagan Narang to contest for NRAI President post
Olympic bronze medallist Gagan Narang is set to contest for the role of President opposite incumbent Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo in the upcoming elections of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI).
This development comes after BJP MP and industrialist Naveen Jindal withdrew his name last week.
Gagan’s name has been proposed by Ajay Patel, senior vice president of the Indian Olympic Association.
Interestingly, Gagan is also set to fight for the role of vice president alongside five other candidates, including the present secretary general Kunwar Sultan Singh.
Pawan Kumar Singh is the only candidate to file the nomination for the post of secretary general in the coming term.
A new executive committee for the period between 2025 and 2029 is set to be elected on December 4 in the general body scheduled in Punjab. A 25-member governing body will also be elected at the session.
