Asian Games 2014 medallist hammer thrower Manju Bala suspended for doping
Asian Games 2014 bronze medallist hammer thrower Manju Bala on Tuesday was handed a five-year suspension for an anti-doping rule violation by the National Anti-Doping Agency’s disciplinary panel.
The suspension for the 36-year-old will be effective from July 10, 2024.
Bala was tested out of competition at her hometown in Rajasthan last year and returned positive for DHCMT (Dehydrocholoromethyltestosterone), LGD 4033 (Ligandrol), and SARMS (Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators).
She had won the hammer throw bronze during the 2014 Asiad with a best throw of 60.47m. She was upgraded initially for the silver in but subsequently the Chinese gold-medal winner Zhang Wenxius, who tested positive, won her case and was reinstated as champion.
