Sarvesh Kushare records Personal Best, finishes sixth in men’s High Jump final at World Athletics Championships 2025
India’s Sarvesh Kushare finished joint-sixth in the men’s high jump final at the 2025 edition of the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo on Tuesday after recording a new Personal Best.
Kushare bettered his Personal Best after he cleared the 2.28m height on his final attempt. However to remain in contention, he would have had to break the National Record of 2.29m — held by Tejaswin Shankar — and clear the 2.31m height, which he failed to in three attempts.

The Indian shared the sixth spot with USA’s Tyus Wilson who notched up his Season’s Best with a 2.28m jump.
Reigning Olympic champion Hamish Kerr of New Zealand took the Worlds gold medal with a best jump of 2.36m. South Korea’s Sanghyeok Woo (2.34m) took the silver medal while Czechia’s Jan Stefela (2.31m) clinched the bronze medal.
In qualification, Kushare had jumped a best of 2.25m which was enough to make him the first Indian man to make the high jump final at the Worlds.
