India’s R Praggnanandhaa secured his spot at the Grand Chess Tour Final set to happen in Brazil in September, following his second-place finish at the Sinquefield Cup 2025.

In Sao Paulo, the Indian GM will be a part of a four-man field, alongside the USA’s Levon Aronian and Fabiano Caruana, and France’s Maxime Vachier-Lagrave.

Praggnanandhaa had won the Romania leg of the GCT 2025 tour and finished third in Poland.

The GCT Final will run from September 27 to October 3 and will be contested across three formats – classical, rapid and blitz.

Praggnanandhaa will be looking to become the first Indian to win the GCT crown. France’s Alireza Firouzja is the reigning champion.
