No Neeraj Chopra vs Arshad Nadeem in Silesia Diamond League: Javelin rivals missing from entry list

The anticipated clash of Paris Olympics gold and silver medallists, Arshad Nadeem and Neeraj Chopra, respectively, at the Silesia Diamond League will not take place after the two were missing from the entry list for the event.

The World Athletics, in July, had said the rivals were set to face off in Silesia, which would have been their first meeting since the Paris Olympics final in August 2024.

Nadeem had snatched the Olympic crown from the Indian with a monstrous throw of 92.97m. Neeraj managed a best of 89.45m to end up with silver.

Since then, Neeraj has broken into the 90-metre club, clearing the mark at the Doha Diamond League meet in May.

Further, Nadeem was expected to take part at the Neeraj Chopra Classic in Bengaluru in July. However, the invite was not sent to Nadeem due to the border tensions between India and Pakistan in May.

With both names missing from the Silesia Diamond League, the World Championships in Tokyo in September are expected to be the event where they’ll meet.

Neeraj is the reigning javelin World champion, which he secured in 2023 with a throw of 88.17m.
