Murali Sreeshankar continues strong form with win at Qosanov Memorial in Almaty
Indian long jumper Murali Sreeshankar claimed the title at the Qosanov Memorial, a World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze meet, in Almaty on Saturday.
The 26-year-old secured the top spot with a 7.94m jump, which came in his first effort of the competition.
Janry Ubas of Philippines finished second with 7.53m, while Azerbaijan’s Nazim Babayev ended third with a 7.48m leap.
This is the third consecutive win for Sreeshankar since returning from a knee injury, which required surgery.
In July, Sreeshankar had claimed wins at the Indian Open Athletics and at the Meeting Maia Cidade do Desporto in Maia, Portugal, a World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze-level meet.
The Commonwealth Games silver medallist will be competing in Europe and Central Asia till August 14, for which the government has approved Rs 5.58 lakh.
