Tharun Mannepalli enters semifinals of Macau Open Badminton 2025

Tharun Mannepalli beat Hu Zhe An to enter the men’s singles semifinals of the Macau Open, a BWF World Tour Super 300 event, on Friday.

The 23-year-old defeated his Chinese opponent 21-12, 13-21, 21-18 in an hour and 15 minutes to qualify for his maiden semifinal on the BWF World Tour.

The Indian will face Malaysia’s Justin Hoh in the final four — the World No. 45 sailed past Thailand’s Kantaphon Wangcharoen 21-9, 21-18 in a 37-minute encounter.

Later in the day, Lakshya Sen will take on China’s Zhu Xuan Chen in the other quarterfinal, while India’s men’s doubles pair, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, play Malaysia’s Choong Hon Jian and Muhammad Haikal for a spot in the semifinal.
