Gulveer Singh wins men’s 5000m gold at Asian Athletics Championships 2025
Gulveer Singh claimed gold in the men’s 5000m at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships in Gumi, South Korea, on Friday. He clocked 13:24.78 to set a new Championship Record, surpassing Mohamed Al-Garni’s 13:34.47 set in 2015.
Gulveer became the third Indian to win gold in the men’s 5000m at the Asian Championships, following Gopal Saini (1981) and G Lakshmanan (2017).
The 26-year-old from Uttar Pradesh had previously taken bronze in the same event at the last edition in Bangkok.
This win adds to his medal tally at the 2025 championships. Earlier in the week, Gulveer secured India’s first gold of the meet with his victory in the men’s 10,000m.
In March, he broke his national record in the 10,000m at The Ten competition, part of the World Athletics Continental Tour, clocking an impressive 27:00.22 in the United States.
