Thailand Open: Deepak, Kiran in finals
Deepak (75kg) and Kiran (women’s 80+ kg) reached summit clashes of their respective weight classes at the Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament in Bangkok on Friday.
Deepak defeated home favourite Peerapat Yeasu, while Kiran got past Ukraine’s Polina Chernen with an identical 5-0 margin. Priya (57kg) and Saneh (70kg) lost in the semifinals.

Ahlawat makes promising start in Austria, Sharma struggles
Indian golfer Veer Ahlawat returned an impressive three-67 in the opening round to be tied eighth but Shubhankar Sharma stumbled to a three-over 73 to be placed tied 110th after the opening round of the Austrian Alpine Open presented by SalzburgerLand in Salzburg.
Ahlawat trailed the leader, Marcel Schneider of Germany, by four shots after the first round on Thursday.
Ahlawat, who earned his DP World Tour card by topping the Indian PGTI Tour, has had a mixed season, making five cuts and missing as many in 10 starts this season.
His best has been tied 17th at his home event, the Hero Indian Open.

Ranveer, Krish finish fifth in boys team competition; Saanvi, Kashika end eighth in girls event
Indian amateurs Ranveer Mitroo and Krish Chawla registered a fifth-place finish in the boys’ team competition after posting a combined total of four-over 430 in the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) Junior Championship in Hong Kong.
In the individual girls’ event, Saanvi Somu carded a two-over 74 in the final round to end her campaign in a creditable 10th place. Her compatriot Kashika, still recovering from illness, posted an improved three-over 75 to finish the tournament in 19th position.
The Indian pair of Kashika and Saanvi finished eighth with a combined score of 16-over 448 in the girls’ team event.
In the mixed team event, the Indian duo of Krish and Saanvi ended their campaign in 13th position at 11-over 437.
