Asian Athletics Championships 2025: Nandini Agasara wins Heptathlon gold
India’s Nandini Agasara claimed gold in heptathlon at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships on Friday in Gumi, South Korea.
Going into the final event — the 800m race — Agasara trailed China’s Liu Jingyi by 54 points.
But she clocked 2:15.54 (885 points), outpacing Jingyi’s 2:24.87 (759 points) to secure a stunning victory.
Agasara is the third Indian to win heptathlon gold at the Asian Championships, following Swapna Barman (2017) and Soma Biswas (2005).

In addition to Nagasara, India claimed two more gold medals on Friday – Gulveer Singh (men’s 5000m) and Pooja (women’s high jump), while Parul Chaudhary added a silver with a National Record-breaking effort in the women’s 3000m steeplechase.
