Neeraj Chopra finishes second at Janusz Kusocinski Memorial 2025


India’s Neeraj Chopra finished second in the javelin throw event at the Janusz Kusocinski Memorial 2025 event in Poland on Friday.

Neeraj left it late to claim the second spot with an 84.14m throw off his last attempt of the event, sending Grenada’s Anderson Peters to third, who registered a best throw of 83.24m in the third round.

Germany’s Julian Weber finished top with a best throw of 86.12m, which came in the second round.

It was an underwhelming start for Neeraj, who started with a foul throw on his first attempt. He followed it up with an 81.28m- throw in the second round but registered consecutive foul throws in the third and fourth.

Neeraj bettered his initial throw of 81.28m with an 81.80m-throw in the fifth round before grabbing second place with his last attempt of 84.14m.

This is the 22nd consecutive event where Neeraj has finished inside the top two. The last time he finished outside the top two was at the Kuortane Games in Finland on June 26, 2021.

The Indian javelin star will feature next at the Ostrava at the Ostrava Golden Spike meeting in the Czech Republic on June 24.
