Sachin Baisoya wins Indorama Open golf championship
Sachin Baisoya overcame a seven-shot deficit to clinch the title in the play-off against overnight leader Udayan Mane after a four-under 68 in the final round of the Rs.2 crore Indorama Open golf championship at the Kalhaan Blues and Greens Golf Club on Saturday.
The 29-year-old Sachin had missed the cut in the last four tournaments and was quite reluctant to play this week, but was persuaded to compete by his father.
In the play-off, after the two had tied on 11-under 277, Sachin negotiated the tricky pin on 18th with a par, while Udayan conceded a bogey.
The champion received Rs.30 lakh, which catapulted him to the second spot in the PGTI’s Order of Merit.
Udayan, a winner of 12 titles, was on course till he made two double-bogeys and a bogey in the last six holes, in slipping to a three-over 75 for the day. He pocketed Rs.20 lakh as the runner-up.
“I was playing well from the start today. I was quite confident going into the play-off,” said Sachin.

India loses to Indonesia in WJT, to play Iran for 11th place
India lost to Indonesia 1-2 in the play-off match for the 9th to 12th place in the Asia-Oceania WJT under-14 boys tennis championship in Kuching, Malaysia, on Sunday.
In the match for the 11th place, India will play Iran.
Japan beat Korea and, Kazakhstan beat Hong Kong to set up a title clash.

Sriram Balaji loses in semifinal of $200,000 Challenger tennis tournament
Sriram Balaji in partnership with Miguel Reyes-Varela was beaten 6-4, 7-5 by Santiago Gonzalez and Austin Krajicek in the doubles semifinals of the $200,000 Challenger tennis tournament in Mexico.
The semifinalists won 45 ATP points and $3,470.
