ISSF World Cup, Buenos Aires 2025: Narmada finishes sixth, Sonam eighth in women’s 10m air rifle
Narmada Nithin Raju (sixth) and Sonam Uttam Maskar (eighth) qualified for the final of the women’s 10m air rifle at the ISSF World Cup in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but a podium finish eluded the Indian duo on Monday.
After the first five shots in the final, Sonam and Narmada found themselves in the sixth and seventh spot, respectively with scores of 52.0 and 51.0.
Narmada, despite closing in on Sonam’s 104.2 after 10 shots, remained stuck at seventh with a difference of 0.2.
However, it was eventually Sonam who became the first to exit the lane with a low 9.9 off her 12th shot.

Next, Tokyo 2020 silver medallist and 50m 3P specialist Mary Tucker, locked in a battle with Narmada, dropped 0.6 short of the Indian markswoman’s mark.
With a deficit of 0.2 to cut down, Narmada shot a 10.2 which wasn’t enough to topple Anzhelika Osmanova.
Wang Zifei of China won the gold medal while Kwon Eunji of Korea took silver. Audrey Gogniat picked up bronze.
Earlier, Narmada finished sixth (effectively fourth with two ‘RPO’ athletes finishing ahead of her) with 632.8 in the qualification round. Sonam also managed to become the second-last candidate to squeeze in with a score of 631.6. Olympian Elavenil Valarivan, shooting for ranking points only, scored 629.7 (15th). Arya Borse, the final Indian in action, came 24th (627.3).
India is currently second on the medal tally with two gold, a silver and bronze.
