Asian Wrestling Championships 2025: Reetika Hooda books spot in final; Nitesh wins Greco-Roman bronze
Paris Olympian Reetika Hooda (76kg) booked a berth in the final of the Asian Wrestling Championships in Amman, Jordan, on Thursday.
Three more Indian women – Nishu (55kg), Muskan (59kg) and Mansi Lather (68kg) – also reached bronze medal contests in their respective weight categories.
Nitesh ensured another podium finish by recording a comprehensive 9-0 win over Turkmenistan’s Amanberdi Agamammedov in a 97kg Greco-Roman bronze medal match.
Reetika, a World under-23 champion in 2023, beat Korean Seoyeon Jeong 3-0 and pinned Japan’s World under-23 bronze medallist Nodoka Yamamoto 10-0 in the semifinals to set up a summit clash with Kyrgyzstan’s Aiperi Medet Kyzy.

Nishu lost to Chinese Yuxuan Li 10-0, but defeated Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi My Trang 3-0 in the repechage. She will meet Mongolia’s Otgontuya Bayanmunkh.
World under-17 bronze medallist Muskan beat Philippines’ Arian Geralin Carpio 10-0 before falling 12-2 against Japan’s World under-20 champion Sakura Onishi. Muskan will take on Mongolia’s Altjin Togtokh.
World under-17 champion Mansi got past Chinese Taipei’s Sheng Fang Cai 10-0 and benefitted as Japanese star Ami Ishii withdrew due to an injury but lost 10-1 to Chinese Zelu Li. She will clash with Kazakh Irina Kazyulina.
