Tata Steel Marathon 2024: National record holder Gulveer, Sanjeevani lead field of Indian elite runners


Gulveer Singh, the national record holder in 5000m and 10,000m, will lead the challenge in the men’s section of the Tata Steel World 25K race, which announced the Indian elite runners’ field on Monday.

Sanjeevani Jadhav will be pre-race favourite in the women’s category. The final list of elite Indian participants stood at 27 men and 13 women, who will be vying for honours at the course laid out along the iconic Red Road, on December 15.

The event will see equal prize money for the Indian elite athlete field with the first three in each category winning Rs. 3 lakh, Rs. 2.5 lakh and Rs. 2 lakh respectively. The Indian runners will also have the incentive of winning Rs. 1 lakh as event record bonus.

Avinash Sable holds the current event record in the Indian elite men’s category, with the timing of 1:15:17s while L. Suriya holds the elite women’s category record (1:26:53s).
