Paris 2024 Olympics: Dhiraj-Ankita loses archery mixed team bronze-medal match 6-2 to USA
India’s archery mixed team of Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara went down 2-6 to USA’s Casey Kaufhold and Brady Ellison in the bronze medal match at the Paris 2024 Olympics on Friday to settle for a fourth-place finish.
Ankita shot a sub-par seven-point arrow in the first set which saw India concede the opener 38-37.
She again shot a seven-pointer in the second set that allowed USA to pull ahead. USA’s Brady shot two 10-point arrows to seal the second set 37-35.
India could pull back and claim the third set 38-35 courtesy of a seven-point arrow from Casey.
Ankita got off the final set with an eight-point arrow and Dhiraj followed with a nine. Brady and Casey managing a 10 and nine meant India had to cover a two-point deficit in its final two shots. They could only score eight and 10 which was not enough to prolonge the contest to a shoot-off.
